This year’s photographic exhibition was a great success. Many local people attended and were delighted to see pictures of people they recognised from their own past. Many were surprised at the sheer extent of the photographs and information on display. We had also had visits from members of other local historical groups who were impressed with the exhibition. We have found that people visiting these events tend to be keen to provide us with additional information, corrections where we have made mistakes (nobody is perfect) and informative photographs that are new to us, all of which is used to update our archives for future generations to enjoy.

On Friday 29th of July our speaker is Dr Richard Wood. He is going to enlighten us on the role of The South Wales miners in the tunnelling companies on The Western Front. The tunnels under the battlefields were incredibly extensive. This massive undertaking required specialist knowledge, skills and experience. Unfortunately the fortitude of these brave unsung heroes of the Great War has largely been forgotten.
